Rabbit’s Foot Calathea, also called Kerchoveana plant, is a popular variety of Maranta leuconeura. These common houseplants have light grayish-green leaves with dark spots (reminiscent of rabbit tracks) between the veins.
The Rabbit’s Foot (Kerchoveana) Prayer Plant is native to Brazil. This Prayer Plant is not difficult to grow, but just like other Maranta varieties, it requires some level of care. Rabbit’s foot calathea is an evergreen perennial. As a houseplant it is a fairly slow growing plant.

Rabbit’s Foot Calathea (Kerchoveana) Plant Planting and Care
- Keep the soil moist with regular watering, but don’t let the soil get soggy.
- It needs high humidity to keep the foliage looking well.
- Prune old or yellowed leaves.
- Growing indoors, Rabbit’s Foot Calathea plant thrives in indirect light, high humidity & temperatures between 18°C – 24°C.
- Once a week, wipe the leaves with a damp cloth.
- Apply balanced fertilizer once in a month.
