Croton, also known as “garden croton,” are native to the tropical forests of southeast Asia and Oceania. In the wild, they grow as giant shrubs, reaching up to 10 ft tall. Croton plants grow best outdoors in heat, humid climates. They like full to dappled light and plentiful water. Growing croton plants indoors can be a problem to imitate their perfect conditions. Outdoor croton plants can reach round 8 ft tall, however as pot-grown houseplants they tend to be much smaller, making croton an excellent indoor plant in that regard.
This croton’s leaf form resembles bananas—they’re even naturally yellow! It is one of many smaller members of the massive croton household, making it a great houseplant. It thrives in heat environments, so preserve it away from drafty home windows.
